Ok so it's been a loooooooong while since I spoke about anything beauty related and if I'm honest, I feel like I've completely grown out of makeup now. Whilst I love experimenting with it and wearing it when I go out, I just don't enjoy it as much as I used to. In fact, usually I only wear makeup four or five times a month now which is either when I don't feel confident about myself or I'm going out somewhere e.g. clubbing and what not. Nevertheless, there have been a few products I'm wanting to purchase and add to my makeup collection so I thought I'd share it with you as a beauty blog post has been a long time coming! Mac Lipstick - CaptiveI actually got this lipstick for free as I had exceeded a certain amount to be able to snatch a freebie. Bonus. Honestly, I love it! It's a gorgeous dark pink lipstick, so divine and an lovely pop of colour for any plain outfit. I think for day wear I would imagine black culottes and a striped black and white t-shirt which looks complete with this lovely lovely lipstick. What's more, is with lipsticks like this you can really experiment with your eyeshadow. Pair this with a smokey eye or perhaps go all out and mix burgundy and gold with this dark pink lip, I think that would look amazing in winter/autumn season if you ask me. I've always loved Mac lipsticks because they're long lasting and look truly amazing. Whilst it's perhaps not a colour I would typically reach for, I have been wearing it a lot. Skincare - Clarins MoisturiserNext up is something COMPLETELY different. I don't really think I've ever preached about skincare very much, perhaps mainly because I don't have problemed skin and barely ever get even ONE spot on my face so I don't feel the need to experiment with loads of different products, but recently I've been hyped about this new moisturiser I've been testing out. Clarins is my mums go to skin care brand (alongside Liz Earle), so naturally I've followed in her footsteps and I'm happy I did. Not only does this moisturiser smell divine, it works wonders too. If you're like me and have exceptionally dry skin, then this product won't disappoint. I usually wash my face and then apply this every morning and night. It's simple and effective. The moisturiser is £21 so quite a reasonable price, especially if you're just starting out with all your skincare products. I have very sensitive skin and a lot of moisturisers actually give me a rash, therefore undoubtedly Clarins is a safe (and amazing!!) option if you find yourself in a similar position. Charlotte Tilbury - Magic FoundationI'm not one to preach about foundations because I'm very picky and specific with my choice of such products. Foundation is the base of your makeup, if you don't choose the right one, the rest of your face doesn't feel right at all. I'll be honest, I heard that Charlotte Tilbury had opened up a counter in Newcastle, but I never ventured out to explore the products until my mum booked me in for a makeover for my Leaver's Ball. I wasn't sure what to think e.g. would I like it? I'm picky with makeovers, I usually only choose Mac (super original I know) but I was pleasantly surprised and what's more, this foundation was jaw dropping, it worked so well with my skin. Whilst I love the foundation I'm using now, which is the Chanel Le Tient Ultra Tenue It's perhaps not perfect for my skin type as I find the foundation can be a bit of a battle when trying to smoothly apply it to my nose which is one of the most driest parts of my face. I'm on the hunt for yet another new foundation and I think this ones definitely made the cut. The application was smooth, the coverage was a perfect amount and the product lasted me all night. It didn't feel like there was anything on my face, perhaps expected from medium coverage which is a bonus. The makeover itself was only £30 and looked so glamorous, next time you want your makeup done, I highly recommend Charlotte Tilbury! That's all from me! This post was quite refreshing and felt like a blast from the past when I had my phase of obsessing over makeup. I'll still preach about new products and beauty in general every now and again as I do still love my makeup I'm just not AS obsessed as I used to be. Fashion has definitely become my ultimate love as I've grown older. I would hope I enjoyed it that much considering thats what I'm going to study for University In September. What products are you lovin' at the minute?

Seeing as Mother's Day was on Sunday and I'm actually really impressed with the present I bought my mum, I thought I would show you what I got her. This particular present was actually a bargain of £22, it's an amazing deal in comparison with how much you get and how well the layout is presented. I thought it would be cool for you to see what I got and the type of things my mum likes in comparison with your own mother! Maybe they have similar taste, who knows. Champney's Gift SetSo I'm actually kind of jealous about what I bought my mum for Mother's Day. Seeing as we both have similar tastes in terms of lotions and skin care products (but definitely not in terms of clothing!) I knew I would immediately want to try everything within this box. I didn't even have to wrap it up and make it look presentable because it was already pretty darn impressive and HUGE. Brownie points for me. The little slogan at the top saying "a well earned treat" was perfect for my mum because she literally does everything for me. It was probably best that I was away at work so she didn't have to deal with me shouting "mum" 24/7 and waiting on meals. This gift set has everything a mother needs! It's a combination of relaxation products and body washes that smell lovely and fruity. What it Offers & Why it's an Essential PresentSo here's what's inside! The knife like object you see if actually for strengthening your nails (I'm not sure how, that's probably something you'll have to look up as it's not exactly my expertise) alongside strengthing your nails, handily, is a hand lotion which smells absolutely divine. For all of you lovelies that may struggle with sleep, which I actually struggle to do sometimes thanks to A-levels, there is a lotion which you rub into your temples to allow for a more relaxed sleep at night. Temples often feel the most tension and are associated largely with stress, so I guess it's pretty self explanatory how it helps. Now it's down to the good bits! The biggest object is the body wash bubble bath heaven, place it on whilst in the bath for a gorgeous smell and a relaxing hour or two doing absolutely nothing. Mums need that sometimes running after us lot. Accompanied by it is a scrub. This is often used for dry skin to get rid of the dead skin and soothe the key areas to reduce dryness. Alongside this, we have two gorgeous yellow objects which have a citrus smell (yellow is perfect to be accompanied with citrus) we have a body lotion which you rub into your skin, this usually helps to keep the skin healthy and loathed with all the good stuff. I used to use this before putting on fake tan as it makes it last longer! Not a bath kind of person? Me neither OR my mum. That's why it's pleasing to see options! They've also added in a citrus scented shower gel to leave you refereshed and smelling gorgeous every time you step out of the shower. This champney's gift will leave anyone smelling lovely or feeling relaxed. That's all from me lovelies!! What did you buy for Mother's Day? Perhaps you took her out for a meal to show how you appreciate her or like me got her a present you know she'll love and enjoy. I definitely think Mother's Day and Father's Day is needed as they're on their feet 24/7 all thanks to us. Here's to all the mums out there!
Until next time, Em x Hey loves! So this blog post is going to be a little bit different to the "norm" of what you'd usually expect from my posts. Recently I've been filming some exciting stuff which I still can't tell you about, but should be up in February. Excited isn't even the word to describe it. Anyways, I got inspired by my recent filming and decided to keep my Nikon D3100 out for a little longer to film my updated beauty collection for you all. I've always loved photography from a very young age and filming this amongst other things really brought out my creativity again. This is nothing special really, it took me about an hour or so to edit, but nevertheless I hope you enjoy. All links to my updated beauty collection can be found in the video, but I will leave details below on where to find them and what they are if you missed it the first time round. If anyone from the UK is thinking how on earth did she get the Too Faced foundation? it's available now on Debenhams, which I don't feel was ever very promoted, so I thought I would emphasise that to you all. I didn't add that I wear Charlotte Tilbury's "K.I.S.S.I.N.G" lipstick often, such a good nude lip for everyday use. I also think I might give a break down of an updated everyday makeup tutorial because it's been a while since I've done that! I told you I'm changing things up in 2017. Until next time, Em x
When you think of beauty, what do you see? Is it penciled in eyebrows, the 'perfect' contour, plumped and glossy lips? Society has quickly told the rest of the world the way it should be. I was sitting at home one evening, reading my October issue of Vogue magazine whilst sipping my coffee when I came across this extremely intriguing article. Immediately I was intrigued. Not just because it mentioned the word 'beauty', but more so because it highlighted the crisis and impact of society and the modern media. Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to rant. You all know I obsess over beauty and cosmetics, but a part of me likes to speak passionately about the social norms of society itself. It's always important to understand and acknowledge that sometimes your passion can influence and alter others perceptions of themselves, maybe even yourself. "The best project you'll ever work on is you."As soon as I read the title, I knew I would thoroughly enjoy this article. Although I am an absolute beauty fanatic, I constantly see girls being victimised thanks to the media. Within Vogue's October issue, the article began with understanding what people seem to accept as perfect beauty, "A beauty neither of fine colour nor long eyelash, nor pencilled brow, but of meaning, of movement of radiance..." when I read this I loved the emphasis on balance, nothing too much, nothing to little. Female beauty (if we are speaking of makeup) should compliment you, but not overpower your natural beauty. For me, if you asked me what beauty is, I certainly wouldn't immediately jump to the assumption of that perfect, dewy and oil free foundation, followed by thick contour and lighter concealer. Makeup and beauty are different in my eyes. Makeup is a way of creating art and being able to test out different styles and looks e.g. the smokey eye or strobing, whereas beauty is very much natural and usually shows more through the way you are around others and how you act, as opposed to how you look or how well you can blend. Society, in my eyes, has seemed to emphasise the idea that natural beauty and confidence should come from how well your highlight glows or how long you can make your eyelashes and how dark and definitive you can get your eyebrows. There's nothing I love more than spending an hour or more perfecting my makeup, allowing myself to feel good, but for me I always keep in mind that we aren't defined by the beauty we create. "The biggest act of rebellion we have left in make-up is not to use any." Sometimes I sit and wonder if I was to go around a group of girls and ask how many of those could walk outside or go to school without any makeup on, I wouldn't be shocked if most, if not all, simply wouldn't. Most of the best friends I've had throughout high school and sixth form, couldn't even leave the house to go shopping for two hours without applying makeup or even having a sleepover, the full face would still be applied. Throughout some of my high school years, I'd be exactly the same. I would come downstairs and my mum would say, "Why have you got all that makeup on? We aren't going anywhere today." being a stroppy teenager I'd usually respond with, "you don't understand" or "because I felt like it". I often think, what if I wasn't so influenced by the media and society? Would I of been the same? apply layers and layers of makeup? Would I be applying contour and feeling the need to shape and pencil in my eyebrows daily? The most empowering people, to me, are those who can stand out from the crowd. I get annoyed with myself that I don't feel able to be seen even at work without at least foundation applied because why should I feel defined by that of makeup? Something which doesn't show my natural face anyways? Something which is always important to remember is that women should never be defined by beauty, should never feel embarrassed about how they look without makeup on, without thicker or fuller eyebrows or short eyelashes, should never be judged when they feel confident enough to go out without it. I used to apply my Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit on a daily basis and you can imagine how that must have been for my skin. Now I try to keep it to the minimum, especially for work. I haven't touched my contour kit for two to three months now and I'm happy I made that change. "Inhale confidence, exhale doubt. Take a deep breath and believe in yourself. You got this." My favourite quote that I live by has to be "Be the best version of yourself" currently promoted largely on my new blog/website for my A-level Media Studies. I think that such a quote applies wonderfully to this current topic of debate. "It's about individuality: there is no one consistent element on each girl. They stand on their own." You always hear people wanting to be like Kendall Jenner or calling models such as Gigi Hadid "Goals" the most recent and populated term, which I will never take or use seriously. We all have someone we aspire to, wish we looked like, but there are girls out there hating their own reflection. There are girls out there spending thousands on cosmetics; nose jobs, lip jobs, boob jobs, surgery for a more prominent jaw line and a less pointed chin (the list goes on). So why do girls insist on wishing they weren't themselves? This is where society and the media comes in, something which we have all been greatly influenced by. Society creates a social norm, which for especially young teenage girls still trying to find who they are, can be extremely influential and persuasive. Allowing teens to see an unideal and unrealistic view of beauty and something they should aspire to and be like one day. But it's not something they can aspire to or be like, no matter how much surgery they spend their money on. Something totally unrealistic. I've came across so many before and after versions of photos uploaded onto the media and how photoshopped, blurred or perfected they are. Something which in real life they aren't. You aren't able to blur your face or make your eyes larger or more whiter around the outside of the pupil with a click of your fingers, so teaching consumers that this is the normal and perfect way of looking, is totally completely and utterly impractical. Some celebrities we all aspire to aren't even who they used to be, they are who they are now thanks to the millions they've spent on perfecting themselves or "faking themselves". Don't get me wrong, if you are totally insecure about a certain aspect of yourself, such as hating how thin your lips are, then getting them slightly plumper shouldn't mean you're called out to be a fake or totally different to how you were before, but reshaping your whole face and naturally changing your body to seem curvy or skinny in the middle and bigger at the butt (popular right now), almost makes the older totally beautiful version of yourself unrecognisable and we all could name a few people who have went WAY too overboard with their surgery, so much so that it looks absolutely unflattering to look at. To be able to see yourself without makeup or look at yourself and be content with who you are as a person is empowering and strong. Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zKfF40jeCA (A Dove Campaign) "I've Been Criticised for Not Being Perfect and I'm Proud of It."There are many women we should correctly aspire to, women who can hold there hands up high in such a society and simply says "Yeah I look crap on this, but that's normal." because not everyone looks perfect constantly, even the most beautiful of models. Kristen Stewart for example commented that, "I have been criticised for not looking perfect in every photograph. I'm proud of it." being able to say maybe I don't look my best here, but I'm happy with who I am, is the best you can do for yourself. Sometimes going to lengths of becoming perfect, ultimately doesn't make you any happier. If can be content with who you are as a person and your imperfections which every living soul has, nothing can stop you or bring you down. An unstoppable, motivated and self-empowered woman is something us girls should all aspire to be. Always. It's lovely to see that the new trend seems to be becoming wearing less makeup or none at all, even Kim Kardashian, the beauty and fashionista herself has confessed she's on a journey to "try and wear less make-up". Something your skin may thank you for in the long run too! Last years trend was eyebrows on fleek, this years trend is becoming eyebrows all natural. Although I'm not quite comfortable with the shape of my natural brows quite yet. It's important to remember that makeup doesn't define our beauty and our natural beauty is absolutely perfect the way it is, but it's also important to never see makeup as a negative. I see makeup as an art and a passion. Kat Von D describes her brand as, "Bold, unapologetic, outspoke and different in our own way." further emphasising the need and trend for individuality. For me I love this idea because it's to do with makeup, creating art and a style that is yours through cosmetics, whilst seemingly also understanding that makeup shouldn't be applied to make yourself perfect. Natural is beautiful always. "Society Doesn't Define Your Beauty."If you haven't read Vogue latest issue, you need to. I love the magazines not only for their fashion, but for their topical debates. The article always leaves me motivated, fuelling more ideas into my head. I guess that's why I have a blog though, to realise all the thoughts in my head. I love this topic of beauty and feel especially within modern day times, it causes controversy. For me, I like to remind myself that although makeup is a passion for me, it doesn;t define who I am or how I look. All girls should be able to walk out the house with a full face on and feel comfortable within their own skin. It's the unrealistic social norms of modern media which make it so difficult for us to determine beauty and makeup itself. Although my debate when off on a bit of a tangent (nothing unusual there) the article from Vogue's October issue really drove me to create a post on such issues which many may not even know is effecting them. For me, looking back, I was naive to slap makeup on daily, even around the house. No girl should ever feel that their natural face, their natural skin or their natural body isn't enough. In the real world, there's no such thing as perfect. If certain celebrities didn't have these editing apps, perhaps perceptions of beauty wouldn't be so distorted, especially for young teenage girls still trying to figure out who they are, let alone getting the feeling that they aren't enough. An important quote to be noted: "Beauty is the opposite of perfection - it's about confidence, charisma and character." Something we should always remind ourselves. "Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself." - Coco Chanel That's about it from me today, but there is something else I wanted to say... a great big thank you. Why, might you ask? Because about two weeks ago I hit 2,000 unique visitors and I'm also on my way to 5,000 page views. I've said it from the start and I'll say it again, I didn't think I'd get 200 people coming back to my blog, let alone being in the thousands! Hopefully I can continue bringing these blog posts up to the same standards or even better as time goes on. Thank you so much for reading. Until next time x
Hey loves! I'm currently in one of my absolute favourite places and I'm loving it, LONDON! I've took a quick stop from my busy schedule this week to update you on my new blog post this week, my ultimate favourite foundations, some of which won't be much of a surprise to you. Enjoy! The Endless List...For me, foundation is my most changed product. I've went through various different brands, starting from £6.50 foundations which have now ended up at £31 foundations and I would never look back. Sometimes I get a bit of a sweat on buying such expensive makeup, but unsurprisingly no product ever fails to fulfil my needs. I have a selection of foundations I have chosen from and some I would to test out. Too Faced Born This Way FoundationI am currently using this foundation for the second time. This particular foundation is the only one I have gone back to again as a daily applicator for years. I became super into beauty in about year 11 of high school and saved up all the money I received and splashed it on cosmetics. Fashion only became a major part of my life throughout summer 2015 leading into year 12. One of the main reasons why I love this foundation so much is it's immaculate coverage. I find myself only applying one coat to get that perfect full coverage instantly. The shade of the product has a lovely yellow tone to it, which compliments my skin really well. When I first came across the product, it had so many raving reviews and millions of people were using it to the death, I can now see why. The product is infused with coconut water to replenish the skins moisture levels (something my skin is always desperate for being extra dry), alpine rose which brights the skins appearance (another bonus for me because my under eyes are already atrocious) and hyaluronic acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Although my skin is still youthful being already 17, I can instantly see the smoothness as I apply the foundation. The product has everything you can ever need, moreover the choice of shades is such wide range allowing for all skin types to purchase and test out this product! It even had the choice of yellow and red undertones which is extremely useful. For me, just applying the foundation can immediately get rid of any rare spots which appear on my face and the bags under my eyes are gone (Although applying concealer is something I can't seem to help). A top tip from me is to not apply too much of this product because it has left me cakey at some points, the product is already medium to full coverage so there's no need for layers and layers of foundation (something which took my a while to grasp). I am thinking of buying a new foundation even though I'm not yet finished with this particular foundation because the colour seems to be appearing a bit darker on my face (possibly the wrong shade of colour or too much product) and I'm really in the mood to test out a new, different foundation. I think I will definitely always come back to this foundation, though. A definite recommendation. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk FoundationIf you've been reading my blog posts long enough, you'll know my absolute love and devotion for this particular foundation. Although I only use it for when I'm tanned, I'm considering purchasing one for my normal skin tone because of how much I'm in love with it. This product, is above all others, the most prised foundation I have in my collection. The queen of all cosmetics. For me, they've got the coverage of this foundation ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. I never find my skin looking cakey and I'm never left feeling as though I'm dying to take all of my makeup on, as the product feels totally weightless on my skin. Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation is on the pricey side at around £32, but honestly worth it. You might not believe it, but I'm quite tight with my money (I must take after my Dad) but I would purchase this product again and again within a heartbeat. But WHY this particular foundation might you ask? Let me tell you. First and for most the foundation is an oil-free hydrating fluid keeping your skin nice and moisturised which again helps with my skin, an essential in fact. In a nut shell the product is so smooth and soft to your skin, I could totally forget it was there after applying it to my skin if I went off an did something else (on top of the fact I'm forgetful). The foundation is extremely long lasting, better than the rest, I always find the product still fully applied and almost identical to how it was when I first applied it. Just as the Too Faced Born This Way, the foundation blurs imperfection and brightens the skin. I would be comfortable with going out with no concealer thanks to this trusting cosmetic. All in all, if I had to wear only one foundation for the rest of my life, I would pick this without hesitation. Makeup Forever Ultra HD FoundationThis is another product I have already tried and tested. I bought this product when I went to America two summers ago now (seems like forever ago, what!). I loved this product, but couldn't seem to bring myself to purchase it again or even think to going back to the foundation, sadly. But enough of the negatives, what did I love about it might you ask? First off, like the other products I have tested, this foundation has an amazing wide range choice of shades, 40 to be exact. Again, meaning whatever colour you need, you bet they'll have it. The foundation have a medium coverage and a light-diffusing formal for a natural finish. For me, the shade of this product didn't do much for my skin. After two coats, I could still see blemishes and my under eyes were still looking a dull shade compared to the rest of my face. Obviously we have to bear in mind I didn't have the most life changing primer there is at this point (Benefit Porefessional Primer of course). The actual liquid texture felt fairly light-weight on the back of my hand, nothing to watery or runny and nothing to thickening. For me, I found that my beauty blender didn't seem to apply the product as well as my Zoeva Stippling Brush did, but I guess you find that with some products and I don't mind using either. Sadly the application, although nothing to cakey at all, didn't feel very silky on my ski and I found that half of it had came off my face when I came home from school, which was never the most pleasing result. In all honesty, this product has never been my favourite foundation, but I wouldn't break down into tears about having to wear it. I loved the natural finish to it and the wide choice of shades, allowing for a perfect match to my skin tone. Possibly this product just wasn't great for my skin type, nevertheless it wasn't a bad product! Dior Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear FoundationThis is a foundation I have never tried before, but a purchase I would certainly like to make in the near future. I came across this product through Instagram, as per usual and was dying to test it out alongside another foundation listed below, but we'll leave that until later. From product reviews and descriptions I have found that the price of it is £33 meaning it better be an amazing product! Like all the other foundations, the choice of shades is immaculate as expected. I could easily find a shade to match my skin tone perfectly. The description of the foundation suggests that the product is extremely long-lasting, 16 hours to be exact which is a lovely, realistic statement. 16 hours is more than enough for me. The product gives a luminous matte finish, meaning my skin doesn't look full of liquid or pilled on with foundation and has flawless correction for the skin. Again, this is absolutely essential for me. I get redness around my cheeks and on my nose, alongside my under eyes, therefore a silk, blurred and smooth finish that this product seems to promise is a must for me. Just as the Born This Way Foundation so perfectly proves. The last point suggest that the product gives exceptional comfort, to me meaning that I should barely be able to feel the product on my skin, finishing with a weightless feel. A perfect, must have foundation in my eyes. Urban Decay All Nighter FoundationLast, but most certainly not least, the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. Another product I'm desperate to test out. This foundation has filled up my timeline and with such popularity, making me keen to add the product to my collection. The product is £27 on the Urban Decay website, which gives free delivery for the UK (bonus). The foundation promises full coverage and a modern matte finish. Hence the title, the it's long-lasting, allowing for the wow factor proving to be unique from the rest. The pigment in the foundation is three times as much as Naked Skin Liquid Makeup meaning that there's no need to apply multiple layers! The foundation is waterproof with a paraben-free formula which diffuses light to blur flaws. For those conscious of shiny skin, the foundation mattifies and absorbs oil for a perfect finish! That's all from me today! I hope that your weekend has been as amazing as mine was. I have been roaming the streets of London and shopping until I drop quite literally. It's safe to say all my money was gone. The last time I went to London was when I was just a kid, so the memories are vague, but I totally fell in love with the hustle and bustle of this beautiful City and it's luxurious shops. What are your all time favourite foundations? Be sure to let me know!
Until next time x I'm FINALLY back. Year 13 has really gotten the better of me. It seems over the past few weeks I've had work thrown at me and pretty much within the first week, I was straight away getting started with my coursework for ALL THREE of my subjects this year. I've been pretty busy shall we say, but I'm back today with a blog post on one of the most life changing products I've ever purchased. Enjoy x Lightweight, Sheer and SilkyI am absolutely in LOVE. I've had this product for about two months now and I've been dying to get my hands on it for absolutely ages. I'm always a bit late to the hype, but I always make it in the end. I didn't really have any doubts on spending £30 on this powder because of how good everyone has said it is and I'd have to agree with them. For me I have the most annoying dark circles and visible under eye lines, which is something I'm not particularly a fan of. Since using this, it reduces and softens those lines whilst also brightening my under eye area which is something I always need. The powder is super light weight, there's been times when I'm letting it set that I forget it's there until I look up and see white all over my face. My face never feels cakey, the powder almost acts invisible. I love applying it in the key areas of my face when going out specifically because of how illuminated and flawless it leaves my skin looking, not to mention that it's for sure long lasting. I never see my face become too shiny or in need of extra powder throughout the day thanks to this most amazing setting powder. 'Soft-focus' on imperfectionsAs you can see, to apply the powder I keep the lid tightly sealed on and tip it upside down two or three times to get the powder to the top of the pot. I then take my beauty blender and apply the powder onto the brush applying it under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, the middle of my forehead and my chin. I leave it to set for 5 minutes and then use my new and trusty real techniques setting brush (perfect for the product). I've never owned a real techniques brush before this one, but I know pretty much everyone owns one or many and loves them as much as I do with my setting brush. The brush does it's job perfectly and adds to the perfect finished look the setting powder so effortlessly gives. My only worry was that the powder would run out fast because I would be applying the powder often (which I'm guilty of doing despite the price) nevertheless, I don't think I'm even half way through making the product well worth it's money. If you haven't got the powder everyone's raving about, you're certainly missing out. I couldn't imagine my life without it now. That's all from me today! I'm super happy I'm back with some more blog posts which have been long over due and what better way to start again than with a good old product preach of one of the most essential setting powders you could have in your makeup collection. Sorry if my blog posts are bit inconsistent at the minute, sixth form can make me very busy when I have mountains and mountains of work I need to be doing! I hope you've enjoyed, until next time x
Yes. It's certainly been a while since I've updated you on some of my favourite new products. Funny thing is, over the course of this summer (from June time onwards) I've actually purchased a lot of new products, both from the beauty and fashion side. It's been a couple of months and weeks since I purchased some of my products, therefore I can make my review as reliable as possible for you all. That being said, enjoy x Mac - Mineralize Skin Finish Global GlowSo when I went to purchase this particular product, I made myself look like a little bit of an idiot, shall we say. Mineralize Skin Finish is something which is already in my makeup collection, I'm not sure if you'll remember this far back, but at Christmas time I got the most AMAZING highlighter from my best friend which was Mac Mineralize Skin Finish in the shade Lightscapade. Just like Lightscapade, Global Glow is intended to be a highlighter, just for a different skin tone. Long story short, I got a funny look when attempting to purchase this particular product as I failed to explain I was using it for a bronzer as opposed to a highlighter. The girls at Mac in Edinburgh were lovely nevertheless, informing me this wasn't suitable for my skin tone if I was indeed using it as a highlighter. All was dealt with and I could finally call Global Glow my own. An important tip with this product is to apply a minimum amount. Being a highlighter, you'd think I'd be saying this to emphasise the fact that your face would be a symbolism of heaven when applying too much, but no. The product comes off darker than expected if you apply two or three coats, leaving for some pretty crazy makeup looks when you check yourself out in the mirror a few hours later. I see this as a good thing because a minimum amount allows for a natural glow and perfect finish. The PERFECT BronzerJust looking at this product shows the most perfect bronzed finish imaginable for your skin, hence why I was so desperate to get my hands on this product. I sometimes like to break the rules with makeup and apply things that are supposed to be elsewhere on your face (one time I used eyeshadow to draw in my eyebrows, yeah, I went there). I was pleasantly surprised by this product and how lovely it looked on my skin. Although my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit is perfect in every way, it can't beat the more natural finish thanks to Global Glow. I was reluctant to purchase this product because I've got rashes on my face from Mac products once before (the concealer was the culprit) which meant that sadly the concealer was chucked away, as much as I LOVED it. Global Glow may be perfect for some as a highlighter depending on your skin tone, but it works wonders as a bronzer for me and my pale face. That's all from me today! I have a lot more new products to preach about, including something I've been wanting for a rather long time (expect a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in that blog post). It's not often I buy from Mac any longer, but when I do I'm highly pleased. I hope you've enjoyed my blog post, until next time x
Afternoon all! Recently, If you read my Kylie Cosmetics blog, I told you how OBSESSED I have become with metallic Lipsticks. Although I am yet to purchase any, I have a fair few I'd quite like to share with you all today. I have selected a few brands such as Colour Pop and of course Kylie Jenner's Metal Matte Lipsticks feature yet again. That being said, enjoy x Colour Pop - Ultra Metallic LipsColour Pop is a brand I have frequently browsed through online, but never actually purchased from. When I heard about these gorgeous Metallic Lipsticks through Instagram (which I am literally obsessed with, especially for makeup and fashion inspiration) I knew I had to get my hands on some ASAP. All the shades you see above are absolutely to die for. My favourite certainly being the top left, similar to Kylie's Reign, but much less pigmented and much less of a dark red/burgundy. The shade's from top left ending at bottom right are; Zebra, 3-Way, Man Eater and Kween. All shades I would definitely purchase, but less so the shade Kween which is a rather medium pink shade and most certainly not one of my favourite colours. Although it's still stunning, it reminds me of the colours you'd get in the eyeshadow and lipstick kits you'd get when you were only young. Not only do colour pop have amazing Metallic Lipsticks, but there are a wide range of other Lipsticks I want to get my hands on. Their Ultra Matte Lip shades are endless and have so many dark reds I could pass out with excitement. Moreover, there is a large selection of light and dark nude shades some with brown undertones and other with beautiful pink undertones to them. If you're a daring human being like I so desperately wish I was they have dark, pigmented blues and a pretty green/turquoise shade available. There is always something for everyone, not matter what your style or taste is. Kylie Cosmetics - Metal Matte LipsticksOF COURSE Kylie Jenner is yet again featuring in another one of my blog posts and I'm not even sorry. This girls style is to die for, I love her selection of shades in terms of makeup and her bold, daring fashion styles whether it be her hair or her outfit choice. You've got to love the girl. I decided to give you an insight into all her other Metal Matte Lipsticks such as Kymajesty which I spoke briefly about in an earlier blog post heavily devoted to Kylie Cosmetics and how bold the shade looks. I do wish I could rock such daring styles. King K was a rather appealing shade to me and is something I would love to test out, Heir is a bit too pale and light for me, I don't think it would do many favours for my already pale skin unfortunately and besides, dark lip is for sure my thing. From the top left, Reign is a gorgeous deep red/burgundy orange shade (reminding me of Christmas), King K is more of a lighter peach, nude shade in comparison to Reign, Heir is a light pink, peach shade (not my favourite) and Kymajesty is a dark contrasted navy blue shade. I love that Kylie ensures there is a shade for everyone with the darker more bold shades such as Kymajesty or Reign to the lightest shade, Heir, which is very much natural and absolutely perfect for everyday use. Kylie's Metal Matte Lipsticks are what got me into wanting to test out the Metallic Lip, although that is yet to be achieved like many things in my life. She also brought out a new Metal Matte Lipstick edition called Lord which, of course, is sold out. Something else I love about these particular lipsticks, is you could apply it to the middle of your lip with any other normal shade to create an ombre lip. Ultimate Faves...As you all know, Reign is my ultimate favourite Metal Matte Lipstick. Thanks to Kylie Cosmetics, there is ACTUALLY a gorgeous dark red deep burgundy shade out there that is patiently waiting for me to buy and wear to the absolute death. That shade is sitting in my imaginary wishlist in my head, screaming to be bought. Besides that, Colour Pop has some super intriguing shades I am dying to test out such as Zebra. Zebra is for sure right up my street as it's a wonderful True Bronze shade which will sit perfectly with my many different brown shades. I'm intrigued by Colour Pop's Metallic Lip in the shade Man Eater (nice name) as it's a lighter shade and would be perfect to apply for everyday use whether that's going shopping with the girls or like I will be October, having a day out in London sightseeing (seriously had to add in the fact I'm going to London again). Metallic Lips are something different and if you're an absolute makeup geek such as myself you'll want to test the waters with these unique lipsticks. They are absolutely perfect to wear when wanting to stand out from the crowd with a jaw-dropping shimmering Metallic finish to your whole makeup look. That's all from me! Metallic Lips are something I have always wanted to test out, so I thought i'd write a quick post on them to give you an insight on some of my ultimate favourites and like I said earlier, the ones in my imagery shopping list waiting to be ticked of and used to death. I hope you have enjoyed my blog post today, until next time x
Hey loves. Sorry for being MIA recently, I celebrated my birthday on Friday night and as you can imagine, I wasn't awake until 12, all my friends were all still with me throughout the day and then on the night time we had a family gathering at my Auntie's until around 10pm. I then made the decision to start again with my blog today. Seeing as I was MIA with it, what better way to start again than talk about my Friday night? I hope you enjoy x OOTN Details...I'm genuinely excited to talk about my outfit. I purchased this outfit from Pretty Little Thing recently, among the whole hoard of other clothing I have been purchasing (meaning my wardrobe is absolutely full with nice, going out clothes and I still want MORE). I was looking for a tight, strapless, mini dress because it's something I feel I suit more as opposed to a long dress or a booby dress. I selected the colour burgundy because as you should all know by now, this is my ULTIMATE favourite colour. After shopping on thousands of different sites, some of which I've never heard of before, I finally found what I had been looking for. Funnily enough, although I was willing to pay up to £60, this dress was only £15 with free next day delivery and still available on the site. Oh how I love online shopping. I'll leave the link at the end of my blog post for you all. I had gotten a size 6 as I knew it was stretchy material and it fit me perfectly. Pretty Little Thing's clothing are most definitely true to size. As for shoes, I wore some simple black heels from Kurt Geiger to match my one colour sort of look. As you can tell, I absolutely love dark colours. The only accessory you see is my cute little bracelet from my best friend for my birthday which I wear non-stop now. For The Eyes...Now onto my favourite thing to speak about. Makeup. I will only go into details about my eye makeup because the amount of times I have spoke about the rest of my face in blog posts is... a lot. So I had actually got my eye makeup done at Nars in Debenhams, a fabulous place for quaint, pretty makeup looks. Judging on other makeup brands, purely because of the fact I love really dark, bold and striking makeup I prefer places such has Mac. Nevertheless, I absolutely loved what they came out with for my birthday celebrations. I also bought these two new shades to add to my eyeshadow collection because they are gorgeous and I feel, contrast well with my brown eyes and Auburn hair. For my eyes, she began with adding a primer and concealer to allow for a longer lasting eye makeup look. She then went in with a lighter shade which was very much white, sparkly tones which was added onto the base of my eyelid. She then went in with the two colours above and some brown shades along the crease and the out corner of my base, further adding and blending products depending on my liking. I felt that these two orange and peach shades worked wonderfully also with my deep red, burgundy dress. After the eyeshadow was complete, she finished off the look with a gel liner giving me a wonderful cat flick to my finish off my look. The eyeshadow duo you see above is £25 and is called 'Surabaya'. I used my trusty NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the shade Vintage to match my dress. QUICK UPDATE!!!As most of you probably already know from my announcement on my Google+ account, I got my hands on my favourite dress from the Carlibybelxmissguided collection. Yes, I did sit for an hour clicking and refreshing the page to get this dress, but thats besides the point (I'm a big fan of her). This Faux Suede Eyelet Bodycon Dress was £35, which is an amazing price for such a carefully crafted, jaw-dropping dress. For me I think that this dress is too precious and would be perfect for occasion wear such as a wedding party or an elegant birthday meal, etc. I HAVE TO tell you that I had posted this on my Instagram page and reluctantly got a LIKE from Carli Bybel herself, it made my two hours left at work more enjoyable for sure. If I could have, I would have bought the whole collection and I very nearly also purchased the Mint Green everyday Ribbed Square Neck Bodycon Dress from the collection too. Everything was absolutely stunning and I'm so glad I grabbed my hands on at least one item. I may purchase something else in the restock this August, definitely be ready to purchase something gorgeous if you haven't already. Good luck, you'll need it. That's all from me! I hope you've enjoyed my blog post today. Again, sorry I've been MIA recently, It's not something I could help much. Summer can get pretty busy! Nevertheless, another blog post will be up on Saturday morning. Until next time x
